Welcome back to my journal. I hope you are enjoying my entries every few days. In case you haven’t noticed, I am a weather geek and many of my journals involve weather, at least in part. I will have more on another cold snap/possible snow storm this weekend in my next article.

Dan vs. Pigeons, Rounds One and Two

As you know, I am an avid birdwatcher and have been enjoying this hobby for 50 years, give or take. I have 5 or 6 feeders set up in the yard, including platform, tube, suet (multiple), Nyjer, and hopper feeders.

We live in the country across the road from a farm. It used to be a dairy farm, now it is a goat farm. Enter the pigeons. Even though we live in a rural area, for some reason pigeons have settled in at the farm. They often roost on top of the silos; they probably go inside the silos in cold weather, I’m not sure. But anyway, this Winter they have been invading my platform feeder. Usually early in the morning, they arrive (about 8 or 10 of them) and crowd onto the feeder.
