Male and Female House Finch at the Platform Feeder Now With a Roof/Author Photo

Welcome back to my journal. It has been a cold weekend here in NY State. It has been below zero (minus 11 each night) for the last two nights, and the wait for a snow storm may be over. A big storm is bearing down on the entire Eastern seaboard. It promises also to mix in some sleet and freezing rain.

However, first I must follow up on my last journal entry. Battling to keep the pigeons off my platform feeder. As you recall, I recently built a roof for my feeder, hoping that would solve the problem. Trying to keep them from hogging the feeder and all the food. The other birds didn’t have a chance.

I Am Declaring Victory in the Battle of the Pigeons!

Hopefully not prematurely. The results? It’s only been a few days, but so far not one pigeon has landed on the feeder. Oh, there have been plenty of flybys. The landing on the house roof above the feeder. But they don’t like that roof on the feeder.
