Welcome back fellow bird watchers. Thanksgiving has come and gone and Winter is drawing closer. The temperatures are dropping, snow is starting to fly and the Winter winds are beginning to blow. Some of you may think this is depressing. However, to a bird watcher, it’s an exciting time of the year as the weather and the changing of seasons brings the birds to our feeders. Project FeederWatch is underway, and I hope many of you are participating. If not I urge you to give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I have completed the first three weeks of this great citizen science project and thought I would share my results and a few photos. To be honest, the bird counts have been a little low regarding the number of species thus far, mainly due to very little snow thus far. With one exception. Today, November 28th, there was a steady light snow all day. I definitely noticed an uptick in the number of birds at my feeders. Snow is magical in the world of birdwatching and feeding birds. It…
