Here Come The Seed Catalogs!

Welcome back to my gardening series. It’s been a while since my last gardening post which covered Fall garden cleanup. Yes, I know, it’s January. 3 below zero this morning. I live in Central NY. Gardening? Yes, the seed catalogs are arriving. Christmas is over. It’s time once again to start planning for the upcoming growing season and to dream of warmer weather.

For me, Winter is a time of reflection. Especially after the busy Christmas season, things slow down some. Especially since I am retired. Yes, it still is busy, especially if there is snow to deal with. Shoveling, snow blowing, roof raking; you know the drill. We usually also have a room remodeling project that we do during the winter. This year we are working on the kids’ toy room, converting it into an office. New carpet, wallpaper, etc. The kids are 36 and 28. No Comments please.

Winter brings a different busy. There is a break from mowing and gardening, landscaping, etc. It helps me to regain my enthusiasm for gardening and yard work. It’s fun to receive the seed catalogs in the mail, a little present, something to look forward to.

So far I have only received 2 catalogs. I don’t get as many as I used to since I…
